For 42 days I have been trying to get an appt for crucial medical care for my son at St. Mary's & have gotten nothing but the paperwork run around. Today, on day 42, I'm told that they cannot make an appointment because his paperwork is "somewhere in a stack of referrals" they need to go through, that I need to "calm down", & if he needs immediate care I should take him to the ER. Their front lines staff is unorganized, condescending, rude, and unprofessional. If this is what it's like just trying to get an appointment, I have no confidence in the level of care my son would receive as a patient. I'm the end of my patience, we'll be seeking care elsewhere, hopefully from someplace that actually cares.
I came her for treatment with depression and it was awful. The "schedule" was disorganized and all we did was watch cartoons and movies (2 movies everyday) I was there for 5 days and hadn't started the therapy at all. The staff treated the kids unfairly and let kids return to room during "group sessions" staff also didn't let kids interact unless we were eating meals or watching cartoons. I got nothing out of this experience.
Billing department is extremely awful...I called multiple times to get my bill taken care of and they tell me I'm all set after I've explained to them I qualify 100% for their financial assistance. I continue to receive bills from them. When you do your diligence to contact them... they seem to be doing nothing right for you.
I feel like there should be better accommodations for the parents who (have to stay) with there minor children in the BED unti. While some staff were nice and tried, others acted like we were here because we wanted to be. We are not offered blankets or a pillow to sleep even in a chair. I was there for two nights and on the second night there were many children there I get that. However one kid said they were hungry and had not been there as long as some others and was given food. When my child and another said they were hungry, they were told it was to late. Mind you this was after his breakfast never made it to him and lunch did not come until almost 3 in the afternoon. There needs to be better communication between staff and some staff need attitude adjustments and should re think the line of work they are doing. Being short with kids in this wing is not a good idea. Further more short with the parents who have been there for multipal nights and days with little to no sleep does not make it any easier on us! They need a reminder that at the end of the day they get to go home and forget all about it. We as parents do not. This is our life on a daily bases and most of these kids can't control there emotions or actions.
Oh my gosh. This was awful. My bf had knee replacement. Incredibly confusing, contradictory discharge instructions- orders for meds inadequate so it took many many phone calls, trips to a variety of pharmacies, unnecessary meds payments to finally get everything. 3 weeks on, not healing - got readmitted with diagnosis of mrsa. Other hospitals test for mrsa BEFORE surgery and treat it BEFORE surgery if needed. Had 2nd surgery in 3 weeks with a different Dr at St Mary's. Was sent home with IV drip that family was supposed to administer twice a day. Both of us have masters' degrees but were not able to safely learn this complicated procedure despite several demonstrations. Pain was not decreasing- Dr just recommended more oxycodone-- yikes!!! He was getting sicker and sicker with nausea, diarrhea, dizziness and pain. Got admitted to Maine Med within a week of discharge from St Mary's. Got good care there -- home IV was changed to something manageable. Maine Med Dr only got all records from St Mary's after a week of Multiple requests. MM Dr said that due to the immediate mrsa infection post surgery, it's probable that the infection was induced at St Mary's. This is not what we were told at St Mary's. My bf is possibly facing two more surgeries if all the medications cannot rid him of the mrsa in his surgical site. There is even a possibility that he could lose his knee. We went with St Mary's in the first place because there wasn't a wait for a surgery date. No wonder. Don't go there.
